Milton reaches out to young cooks

Children often love to try their hand at crafting meals in the kitchen, and during an event that has been planned for Milton, young people will have a chance to learn new culinary skills.

Culinary Craft, which is geared for kids between the ages of 7 and 14, will teach those who take part an assortment of cooking techniques that are based on traditional European methods, along with those from other traditions as well. The instruction will be provided using hands-on techniques, and the students will be encouraged to practice what they have learned. Comb binding can be used to create course manuals and cookbooks for a summer camp like this.

While cooking will be the focus of the week, there will be lots more going on as well. The campers will learn how to make good nutritional choices and will be encouraged to develop skills that they can transfer to other areas of their life as well, such as their schoolwork. According to the organizers, one of the main goals for the camp is for it to be fun and to build friendships between the kids, and they have taken this into account when planning the activities.

Culinary Craft for Junior Cooks will be held at the Grace Anglican Church starting on August 21. Anyone who would like to register their son or daughter, or who would like to find out more, can do so on the Summer Chef School website.
