The annual show features classical music associated with the holidays and winter traditions. In addition to other Christmas classics, the show will feature excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet the Nutcracker Suite. Also headlining the show will be Leroy Anderson’s orchestral standard Sleigh Ride, first composed for the Boston Pops Orchestra. The show will feature the Orchestra’s full cast of over 30 musicians from throughout the Milton area.
Winterlude was the group’s first concert following its founding in 2014, with the goal of reinventing holiday standards:
“Each year moving forward, the MPO will redefine Christmas and Winter in Milton with a Winterlude you’re sure to cherish and adopt as your own family tradition.”
The concert will be led by MPO Music Director & Conductor Pratik Gandhi, who took charge of the ensemble for the 2024-25 season and onwards. This will be the second of four shows in the Orchestra’s season, with “Spring Blossoms” and “Modern Classics” still to come in the new year. Classical concerts like this are especially popular around the holiday season, with graphic design for advertising often featuring holiday and winter symbols.
The Milton Philharmonic Orchestra’s Winterlude XI concert will take place on December 21 at the First Ontario Arts Center.
