Milton festival to celebrate food and drink

The Hops and Harvest Festival will be returning to Milton this October, aiming to provide an opportunity to try local brews and food.

The weekend-long event celebrates autumn by encouraging Southern Ontarians to spend some more time in the great outdoors. The event is set in a conservation area and encourages participants to explore the landscape, whether by hiking or chairlift.

In the middle of it all is an assortment of local vendors, including farms such as Derry Gold Honey and Tree to Table; food trucks and stalls like Andrzejewski Perogi Shop and Omi’s Sweet Treats; and an assortment of breweries and cideries, which are to be announced closer to the date of the event.

There will also be a marketplace full of artisan vendors, ranging from take-home food items like Moose River Preserves and Tijuana Tom’s House of Hot Sauce to crafted items such as LJ’s Baby Goods and Amigas Natural beauty projects. This year’s Hops and Harvest Festival is dedicated to helping small businesses that may have suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Marketplaces like this, typically advertised through low-cost means like flyer printing and social media, can be a major part of an artisan business’s sales.

The 2021 edition of the Hops and Harvest Festival is scheduled to take place at the Kelso Conservation Area in Milton from October 1 to 3.
