A Milton market that brings together local farmers and artisans will return this May in a new downtown space.
The Milton Farmers’ Market has been in operation since 1972 and features a variety of year-round fixtures and seasonal specialties. Regular vendors include A&A Flowers, Allison’s Savoury Pies & Soups, Eastern Woodlands Trading Co and Scholarship Cafe, an extension of local restaurant Troy’s Diner. Other products include fresh and locally produced fruit, produce, meats, sauces and popcorn. The open-air location allows for vendors to browse between stalls and chat with vendors while maintaining social distancing.
New regulations forced changes to the Farmers’ Market in 2020, but it was still able to hold its weekly gatherings throughout the summer. In 2021, the Market will be moving to a new location but maintaining its closeness to downtown to allow easy access to free parking and other shops, as well as greater separation between the over 30 vendors which are present on a weekly basis. Farmers’ markets like this allow for smaller food providers to meet directly with customers and make long-lasting connections, with business card printing sometime as important prep as growing, baking and crafting.
The Milton Farmers’ Market will open at its new home at the Milton Fairgrounds on May 22, and recur every Saturday morning until October 9.
