Milton farmers market to open for weekend

The Milton Farmers’ Market will return this January with an indoor edition as it begins its winter season.

The winter edition takes a similar approach to the summer market, providing space for a variety of local growers, bakers, artisans and more to sell directly to the public. The Farmers’ Market typically features over 50 vendors each week, with usual participants including Allison’s Savoury Pies & Soup, Eastern Woodlands Trading Co., Vince’s Cured Meat and Lumber Heads Food Co.

The winter weather means there will not be the same selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, but there will still be plenty of unique food and other artisan products.

The Milton Farmer’s Market celebrated its 50th anniversary this past summer, and typically operates in downtown Milton, with a move to County Heritage Park during 2020-22 for public health reasons. It also helps to raise money for the Milton Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship Fund through a special cafe. Farmers’ markets such as these provide opportunities for small businesses and independent creators to directly interact with consumers, often using Business Cards or promotional items to make permanent connections.

The Milton Winter Farmers’ Market will take place every Saturday between January 21 and March 11 at the Milton Mall. The market is free to attend and will be open from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
