The awards include categories such as Business of the Year, with sub-categories based on size, Not-for Profit-of the Year, Joyce Hagevik Volunteer of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement. The submissions are currently open through the Chamber’s website.
Last year’s winners included the Lunchbox Cafe, which provides business training for adults with developmental disabilities, the Milton Vision & Sports Therapy Centre, and The Barn Door Studio, which received a special Resilient Small Business of the Year Award.
Following the nomination period, the Chamber will select a shortlist of nominees before the official awards. After two years of virtual ceremonies, the group is aiming for an in-person celebration in September, where the winners will be announced and honoured. The Chamber of Commerce Community Awards have been in operation since 1981 and have honoured dozens of Milton businesses and community members.
Local awards like this are often a point of pride and featured on Business Cards and advertisements. The Chamber has stated that the awards are a way to celebrate Milton itself:
“It is a time for the business community to come together and show appreciation to those who have helped shape the Milton Community as one of the strongest business communities.”
The Milton Chamber of Commerce Community Awards are open for nominations online until March 31.
