Milton will see some of the best cyclists in the world competing this April, as the UCI Track Nations Cup is set to take place at a local velodrome.
The Track Nations Cup is a multi-stage competition that takes place around the world, with cyclists representing their countries as part of national teams. Both men’s and women’s cyclists will be included as part of separate competitions. There will also be individual races held in different disciplines and lengths of track cycling. The Milton stop will be the penultimate stop of the 2022-23 season, before the finale in Cali, Colombia. Participants are expected to include Canadian Olympians, as well as other world-level track cyclists.
Organizers hope to make the four-day Milton stop of the Track Nations Cup a major sporting event, with spectator shuttles running to the venue and specialized accommodation. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the warm environment of the velodrome.
Athletic events such as this use tools such as banner printing and online live-streaming to attract fans and curious attendees. The races will be broadcast online through the UCI’s social media pages. Events are divided into sprint, endurance, and the combined “omnium” event to celebrate excellence at different distances.
The UCI Track Nations Cup will take place at Milton’s Mattamy National Cycling Centre between April 20 and 23.
