The campaign to assist Naheed Ghyas and husband Mohmmod Ayaz, both Milton residents, is underway after they lost their home last week. With the family needing funds quickly, the campaign can hopefully be boosted by raising awareness in the community.
The home of Ghyas and Ayaz, immigrants to Canada, was reduced to only a few remnants last week after a devastating fire swept through it. Alerted by a passerby that her roof was on fire, Naheed Ghyas, a personal support worker, rushed to get her two children out of the burning building but the building was destroyed.
Struggling to make ends meet and surviving on disability benefits, the family did not have a valid home insurance policy at the time of the fire. Surveying the few remnants left after the devastating accident, the couple is understandably distraught about starting over from zero. This is the second tragedy that the family has gone through as Ghyas’ only brother was tragically killed last October.
Thankfully, the family has created a donor page for the Milton community. The couple is now staying in Mississauga with relatives until they are able to rebuild their home.
Community campaigns like ‘Extinguish the Flames’ often make use of local Print assistance to ensure that they meet their target. Flyer printing produced by local printers could rapidly spread word and mobilize the community to support the cause.
‘Extinguish the Flames’ has a goal of raising $500,000 in 111 days. All proceeds will go to replacing the cost of the couple’s home.
