Giant pumpkin display comes to Milton

This fall, Milton will be home to a massive display of carved and decorated pumpkins, with the aim of creating a memorable Halloween experience.

The display, Pumpkins After Dark, consists of over 6,000 hand-carved pumpkins, each with a different design. Some designs include classic Halloween characters and monsters, as well as pop-culture figures. There will also be live pumpkin carving demonstrations throughout the installation’s month-long run. The event is designed as a walk-through experience, with music and sound effects adding to the experience, Halloween costumes welcome and refreshments available on site. The route is one kilometre and typically takes 45 to 60 minutes to explore. The display consists of 80% new designs and reflects a year’s worth of work by Canadian artists.

The display uses a mixture of real and craft pumpkins, carved using both two- and three-dimensional techniques. The Milton Pumpkins After Dark is the only such event in Eastern Canada, with other displays located in Burnaby, Calgary and Edmonton. Last year’s edition met with acclaim in Milton, being named a local Top Thing to Do. Drive-through and walk-through holiday attractions have become popular across North America, often promoted through eye-catching signage and poster printing. Pumpkins After Dark is geared at families and describes itself as:

“A celebration of all things Halloween.”

Pumpkins after Dark will be open from September 23 to October 31 and will be located at Country Heritage Park in Milton.
