Figure skating series to hit Milton
The Skate Ontario figure skating series will come to Milton this March, providing amateur and junior competitions in a variety of disciplines.
The competition, called the Super Series Milton Winter Skate, will run across three days and feature competitions in a variety of categories. Participants will be divided based on their age and having passed a relevant STAR assessment. The events will be divided between the disciplines of men's and women's singles, pair skating and ice dance. Ice dancers will perform according to assigned themes like Fiesta Tango, Rocker Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz.
The Milton Winter Skate offers an opportunity for skaters to qualify for the 2022 Provincial Championships, where Ontario’s best amateur and youth skaters will have a chance to show their stuff. Other qualifying events, such as the Stratford Classic and Super Series Grimsby, have taken place across the winter skating season.
The 2021-22 season marks the return of the Super Series after it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Milton event was originally set to take place in January but was later moved to March. Sporting competitions like this often provide promotional products and commemorative trophies as a reminder of accomplishments.
The Super Series Milton Winter Skate is set to take place between March 4 and 6 at the Sherwood Community Centre.
