CAA’s Worst Roads contest is officially underway, and residents have one month to let the Canadian Automobile Association know which road is the worst in Hamilton, or anywhere else in Ontario or Canada.
If you have ever been frustrated by the ruts and potholes on Main Street, or waiting at a traffic light for an exceptionally long time, or have had to dodge pedestrians, bicyclists, transit vehicles and delivery trucks, now is your chance to not only be heard but also be a little richer for it. Free gas for one year is the top prize, a $2,500 value.
Poorly maintained roads, highways, streets and alleys can be a huge problem leading to traffic accidents and damage to a vehicle. Other problems include traffic congestion, confusing road Signs, challenging merge lanes and blocked emergency access lanes. The campaign has been a huge success not only for people voting for the worst road, but also for everyone in Ontario. Over 90% of the roads on CAA’s Worst Road list, which has been going strong for close to a decade, have been repaired or are scheduled for repair. The roads that make the Top 10 List will be sent to Ontario’s provincial and municipal government in hopes that public works departments will take swift action to make the repairs.
