Visit Doorways to the Holidays in Hamilton

It’s not too late to take part in the Doorways to the Holidays at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton. While the event began on November 26, there are still lots of holiday related activities to look forward to; Doorways to the Holidays doesn’t end until January 8, 2012.

The center-piece of the event is various doors decorated up for the holidays; each is unique and creatively decorated. Decorations can range from wrapping paper to a colourful, holiday-inspired banner. Printing a banner is an easy thing that anyone can do from their own printer, however nothing beats those which are professionally done in Hamilton in terms of quality.

Weekends are when the majority of the activities will take place at the Royal Botanical Gardens. Santa and his Reindeer will show up each weekend until December 18 from 10 am-4 pm. There will also be holiday crafts that can be taken home, hikes through the grounds and lessons about winter traditions which will take place until January 8. Also on weekends until January 8 the Burlington Model Railway Club and Central Ontario Garden Railway Association will be displaying their model railroads.

During the month there will also be several musical performances from the Burlington Student Theatre, Phunktown5 and the Mississauga Glee Club.

On December 21, there will be a Winter Solstice celebration at the Nature Centre from 7-9 pm. This will consist of a guided hike through the woods and a bonfire to welcome in the beginning of winter.
