Regional Design Awards Presented at the Gladstone Hotel
The 2nd annual Design Edge Canada’s Regional Design Awards were presented on June 29 at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto. A company from Hamilton won the award for Best of Region identity application. The printing and design featured on business cards created for one of their clients was considered to be a “traditional, classic graphic design.”
The Regional Design Awards, or the Reggie awards as they are known as colloquially, are presented yearly by Design Edge Canada. Design and printing companies from all over Canada are eligible to enter. All entries received are narrowed down to category winners and best of region winners. There are several categories in which designers can compete. The categories are:
• Logos
• Identity application – products such as stationery and business cards
• Advertising design: print – direct mail
• Advertising design: interactive - online
• Advertising design: outdoor – products such as billboards
• Editorial – magazines and newspapers
• Print design – products such as brochures and flyers
• Interactive design - websites
• Environmental – products such as signs
• Packaging – products such as consumer labels and shopping bags
• Typography – products that emphasize the type
• Miscellaneous – products such as posters and invites
• Student work – school projects in any of the above categories
