New Scotia Bank Game Changer chosen

A local man was recently honoured during a Hamilton Tiger-Cats game for all the work he has done to help his community.

Named a Scotia Bank Game Changer, resident Nick Davies was recognized for his efforts by being awarded a $25,000 donation to the not-for-profit group of his choice. The purpose of the award is not only to say thank you, but also to help draw attention to how much someone can do to help others when they put their mind to it.

Davies, who is currently a student at McMaster University, started a program four years ago to help collect food for his local food bank. He came up with the ‘Stuff a Bus’ program, which collected 2900 pounds of food in its first session. Since then, he has worked with sponsors and volunteer groups to hold the event once a month. He also started the ‘Great Soup Round Up’ at high schools in the area – a drive that collected 16,000 non-perishable food items for the agency.

He was chosen from eight finalists to receive the award. Those who were not chosen will each receive $1000 for the charity of their choice. He’s one of 24 Scotia Bank Game Changers from CFL Markets across the country.
