The 12th Doors Open Hamilton is taking place over one weekend this May. This is an annual event hosted by Doors Open Hamilton, along with the Hamilton Burlington Society of Architects.
Hundreds of buildings, many of which are closed to the public, will open their doors during this two-day event. There will be tours and special activities.
Some of the area’s attractions that will be taking part this year include the Battlefield House Museum and Park, the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology, and Whitehorn Historic House and Garden. In addition, Westfield Heritage Village will be holding period demonstrations and activities on the last day of the event, from 12:30pm - 4:00pm. Admission to all of these will be free during the weekend.
Organizers of the event are looking for volunteers to help out during the weekend. This will include being a sidewalk ambassador or part of the early morning sign crew. Volunteers are expected to agree to four hours of work.
In order to keep track of all of the open doors events, a printed guide book is made available to all those who wish to participate. Hamilton brochure printers are often asked to provide such items; they are inexpensive to produce, but give all participants a take-home souvenir.
