Hamilton to hold compost giveaway
Each week, Hamilton residents do their part for Mother Nature by choosing to compost food scraps and other organic waste, and this has been transformed into a soil amendment that may help local gardens to become even more productive.
The city has scheduled a Spring Compost Giveaway for late April that will give its green thumbs a secret weapon when it comes to having a healthy and productive garden. It can be used for vegetables, flowering plants and other types of herbage, and this soil amendment will be distributed free of charge for as long as supplies last.
Those who would like to take advantage of the offer are asked to bring along buckets and shovels to carry the compost, and there is a 15-minute window allotted for loading. It is intended for households only, and it will not be distributed to businesses. The compost can be mixed into soil or utilized as a top dressing, and it can also be used on lawns and ground cover plantings.
A poster printing company will be happy to prepare materials that get the word out to the public about local events like this one, and they can also craft signage to help keep events organized.
Hamilton will be holding its Spring Compost Giveaway on April 27th. It will be set up at Turner Park.
