What's Happening in Hamilton, ON…

Hamilton site to host evening in the garden

A Hamilton historical site is usually only open during the day, but it will be opening its doors for a special summer evening event.

Costumed gardeners will serve as guides for Dundurn National Historic Site’s “Dundurn at Dusk”, and guests will be treated to an experience that can delight their senses of sight, smell and sound. It can offer gardening inspiration, giving green thumbs and the general public an opportunity to discover how they can plant their own night garden or just install some evening bloomers in the beds they already have.

Along with a twilight tour of the gardens, the group will be offered a special tour of the Cockpit building, which is usually not accessible to the public. There will be locally grown produce to sample, and visitors can enjoy trying out some recipes crafted in the site’s historic kitchen. They evening will wrap up with a mini bouquet and herb bundle workshop, and participants will be welcome to take home the fruits of their labour.

This sort of event can often be popular, and can add some extra fun to a mid-summer evening. Copies of the recipes used, planting tips and other printed materials that can help to make this type of function a success can be prepared by area print shops.

Dundurn National Historic Site will be hosting this twilight celebration on August 7th. It’s scheduled start time is 6pm.
