A Hamilton organization is interested in starting a new food centre
in the city, and it could be ready to do so by as early as this summer.
The East Hamilton Food Centre is a volunteer organization that has been putting in a lot of work to make the new facility a reality. The chairperson for the group, Brandon Tait, remarked that it has found a location that its members feel would be an ideal fit for what they want to do. It is a site that is part of a plaza located on the corner of Barton Street and Centennial Parkway.
The organization is currently engaged in talks with the landlord about leasing the space, and Mr. Tait told the Hamilton Community News that this is going well and he is confident that the food centre will be able to be made into a reality this summer.
According to the East Hamilton Food Centre, it will be more than a traditional provider of food for those who are experiencing hard times. It will also provide the public with information about creating nutritious meals for themselves. Flyers and Posters are a cost-effective way to promote new venues and events such as this.
To get ready for the opening, the volunteers have been learning how to run a food bank and engaging in fund raising to help get it up and running.
