More people are discovering the joy of birding for themselves, and a Hamilton workshop will help them strengthen one of their identification skills.
Birding by Ear will be a class that provides tips for using the various avian calls to help identify a particular species. Its listing explained that this can sometimes be difficult, but as the session will be led by a subject matter expert, the attendees will walk away with lots of knowledge.
James Lees, who is the superintendent of the Dundas Valley Conservation Area.will serve as the activity’s facilitator, and the hike will be three hours long. It will follow a route that may be easy to walk for most, and as they go, the participants will have their ears open for bird calls and other wildlife noises. James will identify the sounds, and everyone is asked to bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes. Binoculars will be an essential tool for the registrants.
As many birds will have made their way back from their southern winter homes, late spring can be a busy time for those who enjoy birding. Print shops can help newbies get started at an activity by supplying a variety of learning materials.
