Hamilton area morning to explore historical cookery

A Hamilton event will look at cookery from a historical perspective, offering a glimpse into what it was like to make dinner long ago.

Today, preparing a meal can be as simple as putting a package in a microwave, but it has not always been that easy. Costumed interpreters will help the guests during Dundurn National Historic Site’s “Plant Bake Hunt Eat” morning, and it will be an experience the whole family can engage in. It will be hands-on, and each $55 ticket will grant admission for one adult and one child.

Once everyone has arrived for the function, they will be led on a guided tour of the site’s kitchen garden which spans almost two acres. They will gain some horticultural experience by planting heirloom seeds, and they may even be able to take some with them. There will also be a scavenger hunt and time in the kitchen, and everyone will have a chance to sample what they have made before its time to go home.
