Hamilton air show returns

The Hamilton Air Show returns this summer, after a hiatus of ten years. The spectacular event runs June 18 and 19 at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. The show is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. each day.

This year’s show features aircraft, restoration projects, flight simulators and aviation displays. The weekend event coincides with Father’s Day. It is expected that about 10,000 spectators will attend the air show.

Dave Rohrer, museum CEO stated that the museum is trying to keep costs to a minimum because $100,000 was lost in earlier shows. They are estimating the cost of this year’s show to run somewhere between $300,000 and $350,000. The call has gone out for volunteers to assist with the smooth running of the event, and corporate sponsors are welcome. The Bank of Montreal and Pioneer are sponsoring the show.

Some of the spectacular aircraft featured at the show will be:

- Fokker DR.l
- Fairy Swordfish
- Supermarine Spitfire
- Consolidated B-24 Liberator
- Beech D185 Expeditor
- Hawker Hurricane
- Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress
- Curtis-Wright SB2C Helldiver

Hamilton has brochure printing companies ready and able to meet the demand for innovative brochures to capture the spirit of the air show. Put in strategic places, these brochures will bring many visitors to the spectacle.

Purchase tickets ahead of time, either at the museum or online. As well, they can be purchased the day of the show at the entrance gate.

The cost is $25 for one adult, $20 per senior and student, $15 for children, while children five and under get in free. Museum members also get in with no charge.
