Annual ranking picks Hamilton as one of the top Ontario cities

The annual Real Estate Investment Network (REIN) has just released its newest report naming the top Ontario investment towns, and Hamilton has been ranked number two out of 11.

One of the reasons the city was chosen is the fact that for the third year in a row, building permits raised over $1 billion; last year's total, for instance, came to $1.5 billion.

The organization based its ranking on the average income of residents, the rapid growth of population in the area, the number of jobs available, and how many major employers have locations in each city. Hamilton made the list because it is close to two borders with the United States, offers easy access to Pearson International Airport, and has a busy port. The housing prices are also lower than some nearby cities. These various positive factors of the area are expected to continue for at least another five years.

Studies like this help to encourage people to move to cities like Hamilton. The region’s tourism boards will want to advertise this ranking in order to attract visitors, and businesses may use it to encourage future employees to transfer to the city. This may mean that local brochure printers will be approached to help produce a booklet to be distributed throughout the country.
