Downsview parents offered hearing impairment information session

A workshop is set to give Downsview parents tips and tools they can use to help encourage language development in children with hearing impairments.

The Facilitating Your Child’s Language Development session may be of interest to parents of children with hearing problems and those studying language and acquisition. It will include information about American Sign Language (ASL) and there is no charge to take part in the event.

The workshop will be led by a selection of subject matter experts, and it will address topics such as the use of ASL, early language development in children, how to monitor for certain developmental milestones in a child and whether or not a child with hearing loss will experience delays in how they develop their language skills. Refreshments will be served, and accommodations may be available for anyone who needs them.

A learning opportunity like this can be valuable to parents, so it is important for organizers to spread the word to the public. A poster printing company will be able to help, and the materials prepared can go a long way towards ensuing an event will be a success.

This workshop is scheduled to take place on November 21st. It has been organized by the Bob Rumball Centre of Excellence for the Deaf, and it will be held at 2395 Bayview Avenue.
