Downsview Park to welcome local families

There will be a special educational event hosted at Downsview Park this March aimed at introducing children and families to the forest.

The Family Forest Fun event is designed to coincide with local schools’ March Break and consists of multiple components. The morning will kick off with a Family Forest Adventure, a guided walk through the Urban Forest that will include educational information about the park’s plants and animals, as well as participatory games.

Following a lunch break, children can listen to a Nature Storytime and take part in a Song Circle with Toronto-based musician Pete Moss. Visitors can then choose between a Nature Play and Bonfire activity, with treats to roast, or a chance to volunteer in a greenhouse hands-on and learn about area plants and pollinators. The latter two will be drop-in activities with parents able to join in the fun.

The event, part of Downsview Park’s educational programming, welcomes all ages, but attendees 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Individuals can book separate tickets for each activity. Family and youth-oriented events like this often use colourful and eye-catching flyer printing and social media to help get children interested and maintain their attention.

The 2026 Family Forest Fun Event will take place on March 16 at Downsview Park from 10 am to 3:30 pm. French-language service is also available.
