ComiCon to gather Downsview area geeks

The Yorkgate Mall will be holding a holiday special edition of its ComiCon event this December, offering nerdy gift items and costume opportunities.

The event will feature “Santa’s Mini Market”, with vendors from across the province offering collectible cards, comic Books, and toys. Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favourite characters from anime, sci-fi or superhero movies. Instead of meeting with Santa, young visitors might run into familiar costumed heroes.

In addition to vendors selected from the community, there will be a buying table for collectors to sell and trade their comic Books. The holiday ComiCon is a spinoff of the full Yorkgate Mall ComiCon event, last hosted in March of this year, which has featured autograph signings, pro wrestling exhibitions, and video game tournaments.

The event is hosted by Pop Culture Canada, which holds touring pop culture events throughout southern Ontario, and aims to attract fans from nearby neighbourhoods like Downsview and the York University area. The organization also collects non-perishable food items and cash donations to benefit local charities. Events like this often use poster printing and other advertising to help spread the word.

The 2025 holiday Yorkgate Mall ComiCon will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, December 13 at the mall’s North York location. Admission will be free to visitors of all ages.
