Winnipeg workshop provides scoop on pollinators
Pollinators play an essential role in their ecosystem, and a Winnipeg activity will introduce them to the public.
The Monarch Teachers’ Network will be partnering with Assiniboine Park Conservancy to present an event that will provide information about butterflies, bees and other pollinators, and a 10% discount has been offered to Conservancy members.
During the Discover the Magic of Manitoba's Pollinators session, the attendees will learn how these insects and other creatures play an important role in human food production and overall biodiversity. Everyone will learn which plants tend to attract the most pollinators, as well as going home with both knowledge and some flowers so they can easily get started at making their garden more environmentally friendly. The registration fee is $30.00 per person, and the session will run for two hours.
Home gardeners and others who care about the environment may welcome the chance to sit in on a learning session like this one. Copies of handouts for such a function can be ordered from stationery printers.
Winnipeg residents are invited to attend the Discover the Magic of Manitoba's Pollinators session on Saturday, April 12th. It will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Tannis M. Richardson Classroom (The Leaf), located at 145 The Leaf Way. The final date to sign up is April 10th.
