Connecting with nature can be a relaxing and healing process, and a Winnipeg activity series has been planned for those with mild to moderate dementia so they may enjoy this experience.
The Acorn Room at the Qualico Family Centre has been reserved for an activity that will be led by a practitioner of horticulture therapy. The initiative will consist of four sessions, and each will run for one hour.
Each instalment of the series will explore slow birding, which provides a simple way to make a connection with nature. The group will be walking on paved pathways, so mobility devices such as rollators or wheelchairs may be used, and different spots will be visited. The program is being made available through a partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. The fee to register is $100.00 each, and the last date to sign up is May 2nd.
Older adults may appreciate the opportunity to connect with nature as part of a larger group. Registration Forms, information sheets, waivers and other documents for an activity can be prepared by Stationery printers, and they can also provide a range of Graphic Design Services.
The Celebrate Spring Living Well Program will take place on May 5th, May 12th, May 26th and June 2nd. Each will run from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm, and care partners are welcome to attend as well.
