Locals to learn all about weaving and fibers this summer

The Fibre Crafts Festival is returning to Surrey Museum next month for one day.

Visitors will have the opportunity to try spinning and weaving on looms and wheels located in the Hooser Textile Studio, while experts will be on hand to offer assistance. They will also get the chance to create easy textile craft projects to take home.

There are also set to be demonstrations of certain techniques and displays of finished fiber products.

Another act appearing during the festival will be the Re-Enactors. This is a group of six people who play early Surrey settlers. They are employed by Heritage Services and find their stories in the Surrey Archives. The group appears at many public events during the year.

Admission to the Surrey Museum is free, but a small donation is always appreciated.

This annual event will probably attract lots of visitors from Surrey who are curious about the art and craft of working with fibers to create clothes, rugs, and other accessories. To spread the word, a local Print company may be asked to provide products like Flyers to be distributed in the city.

The Fibre Crafts Festival will be held at the Surrey Museum on August 15 from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM. To find out the latest information about this event or upcoming exhibitions at the museum, call 604-592-6956.
