The Penticton Roller Skate Society will be returning to the hardwood floor this January with a pair of themed skating weekends.
The organization was unable to host its annual holiday parties in 2025 but will be looking to make up for it with its Nightmare After Christmas rink party. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes representing one or both of the holidays, or whatever they think will look great on the floor.
This will be followed the next weekend by the Space Roller Rink Party, which will use black lighting to create a glow-in-the-dark event. Visitors can dress as aliens, astronauts or other sci-fi characters. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Penticton Roller Skate Society’s programs, including social gatherings like this one, as well as lessons for people of all ages.
Each party will run across two days, with an all-ages skate and one for attendees 16 and older. Both events will take up 10,000 square feet of space with multiple rinks and seating areas and a free water filling station. Spectators are able to attend for free. Roller and ice skating events often use methods like poster printing and social media to help bring in new visitors.
The Penticton Roller Skate Society’s Nightmare Before Christmas Party will take place on January 9th and 10th, while the Space Party will follow on the 16th and 17th, all at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.
