Penticton event to promote creativity

The We Create Penticton event will return this March, aiming to recognize local artists and encourage creativity in everyone.

The event invites local creators and cultural groups to lead artistic seminars and activities throughout the week. Events will be selected through an online application process, with an eye towards hands-on activities such as workshops and performances, All events will be held on a pay-what-you can basis for accessibility, accommodate up to 15 participants and be one-to-two hours long.

The 2026 edition of We Create Penticton will feature the theme of “Sustain/Ability”. Events will be selected to focus on environmental awareness, recycled materials, accessibility for people with disabilities and the relationship between these topics. Events will be selected and hosted by the Penticton & District Community Arts Council. Selected event facilitators can receive up to $500 to cover event costs.

The We Create Penticton event was previously named Community Week and is designed to lead into the Ignite the Arts Festival, which will be hosted from March 27 to 29 this year. Cultural events like this often use methods such as flyer printing and social media to help attract community members as both participants and volunteers.

The 2026 edition of We Create Penticton will occur from March 20 to 26. Specific activities and their locations will be confirmed closer to the event.
