Francophone fest to return to Coquitlam
The Festival du Bois will be holding its 36th annual edition this March, celebrating Francophone music and culture in Coquitlam.
Headlining the show will be Yves Lambert el Le Grand Orchestre, a Quebec-based vocal and strings ensemble who will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in the music business with a one-night-only performance. The seven-piece group will be playing songs from Lambert’s iconic group La Bottine Souriante. Other performers include La Déferlance, Jocelyn Pettit, and The Sybaritic String Band.
The Friday night dance event will be free to all, and children under 12 will also receive free admission for all shows. The festival focuses on folk music and world styles in the French language, as well as highlighting the Francophone culture in the Coquitlam neighbourhood of Maillardville.
The festival also features educational programs in the French language such as a live edition of the podcast Mom Talk and exhibits by Simon Fraser University, the British Columbia-based science company Profaqua, and the Scouts Francophones organization. Non-profit organizations often use methods like flyer printing or displays to help reach people at festivals such as this. The event also features a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning, as well as a market area featuring artisans, food trucks, and a beer garden.
The 2025 Festival du Bois will take place at Parc Mackin in Coquitlam from March 7 to 9.
