One of the major shows will be Legacy in Fire: Clay for You - 20th Exhibition. This display will celebrate two decades of displaying Korean pottery in Canada under the hands of Jung Hong Kim, and feature pots and vases from centuries past in the buncheong and celadon traditions. Promotional material for the show states:
“Legacy in Fire celebrates this ongoing story of perseverance, honouring the people who shaped our practice, the relationships that sustain it, and the cultural inheritance we continue to nurture.”
“John Larsen: Drawing Without An Eraser” will feature pencil drawings of animals done with distinct clarity and graphic detail. The “Nature Needs Half” show will feature digital photography of animals by Julian Zelazny. Both exhibits focus on themes of the natural world and the balance between humans and other animals.
The gallery will be holding a special opening reception for all three exhibits. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists and see the work a week ahead of schedule, with a cash bar also available. Art exhibits like this often use Signs and brochure printing to help explain the motivation and context of the work on display.
The opening reception will take place on September 11 at Place de Arts in Coquitlam. The exhibits will be open from September 11 to October 20 or November 5.
