The Royal Canadian Theatre Company will be bringing its adaptation of “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” to the Coquitlam stage this March, aiming to present a story that’s accessible to all children.
The play uses Dwayne Hartford’s script adopted from the book of the same name by Kate DiCamillo. The story stars a porcelain rabbit who has to learn the meaning of love and transformation.
One night of the play will be staged in a “Relaxed Performance”, designed to welcome children who may have sensory issues related to autism and other neurodiverse conditions as well as very young children. The performance will feature less intense lighting and sound cues, the ability to enter and exit at any time, the ability to make noise and use devices during the show, and a low level of house lighting at all times.
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is a touring production staged by the Royal Canadian Theatre Company, with weekend-long engagements in Surrey, Coquitlam and New Westminster. The cast stars Nicole DesLauriers and Emma Geleynse, with Kerri Norris as director. Theatrical productions like this often use brochure printing and Signs to help acknowledge all contributors.
The Coquitlam stagings of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane will take place at the Evergreen Cultural Centre from March 20 to 22, with both evening and matinee dates available.
