The festival is hosted by Salsa Dance Zone, and dance will be a major focus of the festival. Instructors will provide a free dance lesson on the basics of salsa, bachata, and merengue dance styles. Students can then put the lessons to use in an evening outdoor party, with moves like the cha-cha-cha and cumbia.
The event will feature live DJs playing Latin music and dance classics. The event aims to welcome in youth and other community members who may have no experience with dance or Latin culture, with no partners, prior reservation or admission cost required. Advertising for Salsa Dance Zone’s events states that for the inexperienced:
“This is perfect place to try! We offer a class for absolute beginners so people who never dance before can try new moves! If you are too shy too try come and listen to Latin music. It can lift up your mood!”
Attendees are encouraged to “dress to impress” in their best summer outfit. Community cultural events like this often use colourful flyer printing and social media posts to help make a big impression.
The 2026 Lafarge Park Latin Fiesta will take place on the evening of July 4.
