Rhodedendron Festival welcomes the growing season in Burnaby

The 25th annual Rhodedendron Festival is taking place in Burnaby this May.

The event, which is sponsored by the Burnaby Rhodedendron and Gardens Society (BRAGS), will feature a plant sale, environmental and plant exhibits, live entertainment, guided tours, children's activities, food vendors and artisans.

Last year's festival also had such activities as kite-making, face painting and airbrush tattoos. It also featured guest speakers. No doubt this year will have just as much to offer to every member of the family.

Local artisans will also be selling their arts and crafts at the festival. Items for sale will likely include watercolours, jewelry, ceramics, pottery and even clothing. The event will provide a great opportunity for those just starting to sell their artworks; it will get their names known in the community and will allow the public to discover a new artist. This might result in future orders for work and a referral relationship with their fellow artisans.

Many of the artisans who will be selling their works will no doubt be working with Burnaby printing companies to prepare for the festival. Investing in services such as banner printing and sign printing will help to give their booths more visibility to visitors, possibly resulting in more sales.

The Rhodedendron Festival will take place at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts at Deer Lake on May 5 from 10:00am - 4:00pm; admission is free. Those who are looking for more information can visit the BRAGS website, www.brags.ca.
