Manufacturing focused upon in January workshop

Lean manufacturing is the effective management of resources based on what the customer wants and what he or she is willing to pay for it. It can help increase the profitability of a company while not taking anything away from the customer. The British Columbia Printing and Imaging Association (BCPIA), which provides seminars and workshops for its members, is serious about teaching members about lean efficiency.

The organization, in collaboration with NorQuest College, has already held one seminar on the subject ‘Lean, Learn and Do’ and part two will be taking place in mid-January of next year. Guests will be given a background on part one, so they will be brought up-to-date if they could not attend that.

Topics discussed at the seminar will include ‘Business trends in 2012/1’3, ‘Understanding the 5S's and the visual workplace’, an ‘Industry Survey’, and ‘Leadership and developing a lean plan’. The featured speakers will be Dr. Ken Macro and Josh Ramsbottom. Lunch will also be served and it will be an excellent networking opportunity for BCPIA members, printing company employees, and business owners from all over the region, including nearby Burnaby. There will very likely be time to exchange Business Cards with peers.

Lean, Learn and Do II will take place at the Signature Sandman Hotel in Richmond on January 22, 2013 from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Tickets are $99 each for up to two, $79 each for a group of three or four, and $59 each for a group of five.
