Burnaby gears up for culture celebration

The annual Culture Days celebration is coming to Burnaby in September and will run over three days.

Culture Days has taken place every year since 2009 in various cities and towns throughout Canada. It is a celebration of the diversity of culture and art in the country and helps to introduce members of the public to many different activities and places.

This year, there will be around 120 separate activities taking place around the Vancouver and Burnaby areas. Burnaby will be host to at least six of the free activities.

One of the festival’s highlights is expected to be an artist's talk with ceramics creator Beth Cavener-Stichter. This will take place at the Shadbolt Center for the Arts on September 27 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

The Burnaby Art Gallery will be offering free admission to its latest exhibit, ‘Storms and Bright Skies’, from 2:00pm - 3:00pm on September 28. On the same day, the Burnaby Arts Council will be holding a Silk Screening Drop In and Opening Reception from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. Guests are invited to bring their own t-shirt, canvas bag, or tea towel to work with.

The opening reception for the ‘From darkness comes illumination’ exhibition will also be taking place during the day.

No doubt Burnaby printing companies will be helping the organizers of the various events advertise with products such as Flyers and Banners.

Culture Days will take place from September 27-29 in various venues across Burnaby. More information can be found on the event’s official website.
