Celebrate a traditional Christmas in Burnaby

Heritage Christmas is continuing until January 1, 2012 at Burnaby Village Museum and Carousel. Hours of operation are from 12-8 pm; the museum will be closed December 25 and 26.

Heritage Christmas allows you to celebrate a traditional family Christmas with exhibits from the early 1900s. There will be seasonal songs and storybooks, carollers from various community choirs will be strolling through the grounds and there will be lots of demonstrations and hands-on activities.

The children can have a visit with Father Christmas and the chance to tell him what they want for Christmas. The Footlight Theatre will be presenting the children’s play “A Whole Lot of Latkes” at Brookfield Hall. Everyone can take part in the Christmas Carol scavenger hunt daily from 2-4 pm; each participant is given a check list and those who succeed in finding everything receive a prize. Burnaby printing companies have more than likely provided some of the decorations, craft projects and draw tickets used at Heritage Christmas.

In addition, there will be draws for prizes, K.C. the Clown will be wandering the grounds, there will be ventriloquists and there will be children’s crafts activities. And of course, everyone should take a ride on the C.W. Parker Carousel.

The rush towards Christmas is often all about the shopping. Heritage Christmas will remind us of traditional music, food and simple entertainment. This family-friendly event will remind you that sharing time with you family is what is really important about the season.
