Camp to help Burnaby kids get cooking

Working in the kitchen introduces kids to a variety of skills, and Burnaby’s future chefs will be honing their skills in an upcoming a cooking camp.

The Posh Pantry is set to host its Kids Cook! half-day summer camp, and it is geared towards young people from age 8 to 12. Masks must be worn during the classes, and social distancing will be in place as well.

The campers will be taught the basics of cooking, and they will have plenty of opportunities to get some hands-on practice with their new skills. Both cooking and baking will be included, and these future foodies will also be able to sample their dishes. The recipes will be nut free, and both nutrition and taste will be the watchwords for the camp. The tools needed will all be supplied.

A day camp like this may spark an interest in cooking and baking, and the organizers of such an event can help campers continue learning by supplying them with printed Books containing instructions and tips for making simple dishes at home. Print shops will be able to craft these sorts of materials, which may then be presented to each child at the end of the week.

The Kids Cook! day camp will run from July 5th to July 9th. The registration fee is $349, and it will take place at 4548 Hastings Street in Burnaby. Those interested can call the organizers to be added to the waitlist.
