Burnaby Arts Alive 2019 is a showcase of the artistic talents of its students. It will give the public a chance to view the works they have created, and it will be housed in the Burnaby Art Gallery
The local school district, the gallery and the city itself have collaborated to bring this celebration of art to Burnaby. It will be the 37th year for the exhibit, and the theme for 2019 is ‘Math and Art’.
The Lower Gallery will host displays of artwork produced by elementary aged students, while the Upper Gallery will house pieces created by senior secondary school pupils who are participating in the gallery’s Artist Apprenticeship Program. This initiative helps prepare young people for a career centered on the fine arts, and they will each have an opportunity to prepare their own portfolio for the occasion. They will draw their inspiration from the museum's own collections, and both their works and these pieces will be included in the display.
This opening reception for Arts Alive 2019 and Transitions is open to the public. Leaflets that provide details about the different artistic works and the individuals who created them can be prepared for this sort of occasion by a local brochure printing company.
The Burnaby Art Gallery can be found at 6344 Deer Lake Avenue. This showcase of the talents of area students will be opening at 6:00 pm on May 2.
