The Burnaby Village Museum will be marking the B.C. Day holiday with a special event.
A variety of activities have been planned to mark the occasion. There will be rides on the electric tram and also the carousel, a scavenger hunt, the blacksmith shop will be in operation and Seaforth School will be open so the public can meet the teacher. The platen press will give people an opportunity to see how printed publications were made in days gone by, which will no doubt be of interest to anyone working for a Print company.
There will be no entry charge for the day, but rides on the antique carousel, which dates back to the early part of the last century, will cost $2.60.
The village recreates the feel of the area back in the 1920s when it was home to a stop on the tramline. To help add to the atmosphere, costumed interpreters will be present who can provide further details about the time period. Banners can be designed for events such as this, replicating the style that would have been used at the time.
The B.C. Day activities will start at 11:00 am and run until 4:30 pm on August 1. Those who come out are reminded that many of the vendors who will be on site will not be set up to accept credit card payments, so they should bring along some cash.
