Gardening fans and lovers of natural beauty alike are invited to come to Burnaby and enjoy some of the annual display of the city’s official flower.
The City of Burnaby will be working with the Burnaby Rhododendron and Gardens Society to host a
Rhododendron Festival at Deer Lake Park. There will be a variety of activities to enjoy, including entertainment, mini-workshops, rovers, a silent auction, and tours of the gardens. Those who wish to enhance their own home landscapes will be able to buy plants, and there will also be displays by local artisans and craftspeople that will be selling their works.
The rhododendron is the city’s official flower, and these colorful pink, purple red or white blooms enhance the area’s landscapes every spring. The festival is intended to not only celebrate the flowers but also to promote environmentally healthy communities that are sustainable over the long term. Flyers can be designed and used to help promote events such as this, both in the local area and further afield as well.
The Burnaby Rhododendron Festival will take place on May 1st at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, located at 6450 Deer Lake Avenue. The activities that are being offered are all free of charge, and more information about both the festival and the Burnaby Rhododendron and Gardens Society can be found on the event’s website.
