Burnaby residents invited to attend understanding credit workshop

Understanding credit can help people and their families achieve financial security, and the organizers of an upcoming Burnaby workshop want to make sure that everyone in the area is able to benefit from this.

The credit counseling Society and the Burnaby Public Library will be offering a ‘Let’s Talk Credit’ seminar that will give those who participate the knowledge they need to manage their finances. It will provide hints about how to achieve a good credit score, as well as how to keep it that way.

Various topics will be covered, including the five factors that go into someone’s credit score, how a person can check their own score and why it is important to do so. The workshop will also dispel some of the myths that surround credit and how to avoid scams that can negatively impact a person’s rating, and the rest of their financial health as well.

The workshop takes 90 minutes to complete, and is interactive, involving the input from those who participate. Once it is over, the aim is that they will walk away armed with the knowledge they need to manage this part of their finances, and a copy of the curriculum is available to those who request one. Items like this can be produced by a Print company.

Those who wish to take part are asked to register by calling the library at 604-299-8955. They can also register online at the Burnaby Public Library’s website.
