Creating a workplace that is inclusive to people living with physical or other challenges may sound difficult, but an upcoming Burnaby workshop can lend a helping hand.
The Neil Squire Society counts creating social and employment inclusion as one of its main goals. Its Lunch and Learn will offer employers an introduction to assistive technology and other ways of preparing a workplace that is welcoming to employees who have special requirements.
During the session, which will run for about one hour, the group will be introduced to a variety of technologies that make it easier for those with physical or other challenges to be productive members of a team. Ergonomics will be discussed, as will funding options and community support programs to help meet the cost of creating an inclusive environment. There will be product demonstrations, and lunch will be provided to all attendees.
This event is scheduled to take place at Hubbub, and any employer who is interested in learning more about the benefits of building an inclusive workplace is encouraged to attend. A brochure printing company will be able to create informational publications for an event like this so it can supply detailed information to attendees.
The Assistive Technology Lab located at 400-3999 Henning Drive will be hosting this lunch and learn on August 20th.
