After Halloween, many carved pumpkins go straight into the composter, but a Burnaby event will be giving these gourds one last time in the spotlight.
Community members are invited to hold on to their Jack-o’-lanterns after the last trick or treater has come by on Halloween, as they can bring them to the Pumpkin Parade that will be held the next day. The display will be set up at the corner of Albert & Willingdon, and it will be held rain or shine.
Once they have dropped off their pumpkins, the individuals and families can remain on site to view the others that have been put on display. They can admire the talent and creativity of each of the carvers, and lights will be supplied for each one. It will be free to enjoy the occasion, and once it has drawn to a close, the pumpkins will be gathered up and turned into compost that will help other plants grow.
