Burnaby discovers fun of foraging
A Burnaby walking workshop will introduce the basics of foraging to those who would like to take advantage of the opportunity.
Deer Lake Park will be the venue for the Burnaby Foraging Workshop planned for early June. It will be led by a qualified instructor who has a lot of experience to share, and it is geared towards the beginner.
The participants will learn which plants and their parts are edible, as well as which ones to avoid. Harvesting tips will be shared, and everyone will learn how to forage ethically. Identification tips are also on the agenda, and suggestions for preparing bounty will be provided. Tickets include the instruction, as well as some packaged herbal tea and a PDF of the information shared. Those interested should note the session will not cover fungi, and no actual foraging will take place.
More people are becoming interested in living a sustainable lifestyle, and attending a class or workshop like this can help point the way. Organizers can order reusable signage and oversized learning materials for a session like this from area banner printing companies.
The crew at Waterfront Holistics will be welcoming future foragers for the Burnaby Foraging Workshop on Saturday, June 7th at 5435 Sperling Avenue. It will begin at 2:00 pm and wrap up at 3:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite.
