Silk has a reputation for being a soft and luxurious fabric, and it will be the base for a Burnaby area activity that will teach the fundamentals of working with this textile.
Colour Me Local Dye Garden is filled with plants that are used to make natural dyes for fabrics, and it will be the venue for an evening of foraging, harvesting and dyeing. The materials for the project will be covered in the registration fee, and everyone will go home with a scarf they can choose to keep to give to someone special.
While the group collects the plants, they will learn about when the best time to harvest them will be, as well as how to prepare each one for use. All skill levels are welcome, and it will give those who enjoy the hobby a chance to meet others who share their interest. The $70 registration fee is low thanks to a subsidy provided courtesy of the Silk Moon Arts Society.

The Dyeing with Silk at the Dye Garden class will be offered on June 7th at the Colour Me Local Dye Garden. It is set to begin at 6:00 pm, and it will run for two and a half hours.
