The heads of postcard printing companies in Lethbridge may feel inspired to hear that two printers in the same province were recently awarded an environmental recognition. Both Ion Print Solutions and Unicom Graphics were given the Greenworks Environmental Recognition Awards by Agfa Graphics. The two Alberta printing companies were only two out of 170 companies that were recognized with this award that points out dedication to the environment.
The process to qualify for a Greenworks Environmental Recognition Award requires several criteria that have to be met. Companies that are awarded the recognition must include alternative energy use, waste reduction programs, and also basic recycling. Furthermore, recipients of the award also must be sure to use one of Agfa Graphics’ environmentally friendly pieces of equipment. This can be either Agfa Graphics’ Amigo TS low-chemistry CtP plates, the Azura TS chemistry-free plates, or Agfa Graphics’ Energy Elite no-bake plates.
According to Dave Carey, the product manager for North America for Agfa Graphics, creating new printing technology that lessens the environmental footprint on the surrounding landscape is a paramount concern for Agfa Graphics. He also explained what his Print company does for their customers through the Greenworks awards. The awards allow Agfa Graphics to show support to their customers who are also operating their own companies that are friendly to the environment.
