Lethbridge Legion to celebrate century

The Lethbridge branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is turning 100 this year, and will be holding a special centennial celebration this October.

The celebration will take the form of a gala dinner, with semi-formal or evening attire suggested. The evening will start with a cocktail hour, to be followed by dinner provided by the Legion’s Veteran’s Garrison restaurant. There will be a live performances of scenes from the award-winning play Jake’s Gift, written and performed by Julia Mackey. The play is about a World War II veteran traveling to Normandy to find his brother’s resting spot.

The evening will also include a silent auction. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Legion and its activities supporting Canadian military veterans. Local businesses and organizations are invited to sponsor the anniversary event. Fundraising galas like this one often use brochure printing and stage presentations to recognize sponsors and the organization’s larger mission.

The Lethbridge brand of the Legion, formally known as General Stewart Branch No. 4, was founded in 1926. The organization’s membership has since expanded to include family of veterans, first responders and more.

The Legion General Stewart Branch No. 4’s 100th Anniversary Gala Fundraiser will take place on the evening of October 3 at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge. Tickets are available from the Legion branch during business hours.
