Pro bull riders to stampede into Lethbridge

Rising stars in the world of bull riding and veteran cowboys will collide in Lethbridge this March, as part of the PBR South Country Showdown.

The Showdown is part of Professional Bull Riding Canada’s Elite Cup series, featuring riders from across Canada and the world, all seeing who can stay on a bucking bull for at least eight seconds. The bulls will also be ranked competitively, and will see the trickiest rides the nation has to offer. The Showdown will take place across two days as the second stop of nine on the Elite Cup series, with the best riders and bulls earning points towards a year-end championship and international PBR competitions.

This will be the sixth consecutive season the Elite Cup is contested in Lethbridge, with support from the city’s tourism sector and the Co-Op grocery chain. Top riders on the circuit include Cody Coverchuk, Australian Jake Maher, and Michael Ostashek.

This year’s Elite Cup Series will see the circuit making its debut in London, Ontario and returning to Grande Prairie, Alberta, in addition to the Lethbridge weekend. Rodeo events like this are popular in Lethbridge and surrounding areas, with trophies and banner printing often used to commemorate skilled cowboys.

The 2024 PBR South Country Showdown will take place at Enmax Centre in Lethbridge on March 1 and 2.
